Inspired by alternative rock anthems from the likes of Foo Fighters, Green Day, The Killers, and Stereophonics, “Better Than Me” is a song that promotes freedom, honesty, equality, and treating fellow humans with respect in the modern, digital age. Lyrically, frontman and lyricist, Joshua Jones drew inspiration from his own experiences with limited opportunities, working dead-end jobs, and being treated less than human by previous bosses and those at the top attempting to demoralise and keep people at the bottom of the professional ladder.
lyrics
I never wanna be, stuck in a dead-end job,
I don’t wanna be, struggling with what I got,
I don’t wanna be, just like you,
Tripping over every little thing I fucking do,
I never wanna be, one of the guys,
Going out, getting drunk, telling stupid lies,
I don’t wanna be, so damn vein,
Living life getting kicks out of those in pain,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
I never wanna be, so insecure,
Snapping up, dressing up, just to be like more,
I never wanna be, a slave to this,
Be just fine, fall in line, and you won’t be missed,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
I don’t wanna be something I don’t wanna be,
I don’t wanna play the victim to your tragedies,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
(La la la la la la la)
You’re worth it,
You think you’re better than me, you think you’re better,
(La la la la la la la)
You try to work it, but I just keep on moving until the gears are falling off this,
